89% of marketers questioned in a new study said that they believe online videos are more effective than, or as effective as, more traditional methods of online advertising such as banner adverts. This is up from 66% of marketers this time last year.

47% of those surveyed said that they had already started using the services of video production companies as part of their digital marketing strategy, with almost two-thirds (61%) saying that they would consider it as an option in the next year.

As well as watching videos on a PC or laptop, more marketers are becoming aware of using video production services for other areas. 63% of those questioned said they were familiar with using tablets and smartphones for digital advertising, with games consoles and connected TVs (a TV with internet capabilities).

Fresh from the German gadget portal HTCInside is a leaked product shot of the HTC Rhyme (codenamed Bliss), the first Android phone from the Taiwanese smartphone giant aimed at the girl about town.

Lots has been written about the phone’s possible features already ranging from the preloaded calorie counting and shopping apps to a Bluetooth charm (included as standard) that you attach on to your handbag which then glows to alert you of an incoming call.

The colour scheme we see in this shot however seems to have changed to a more sensible two tone white-grey from the sea green exterior shell depicted in early images. We’re not quite sure if this will be the final colourway however, but we suspect there will be multiple colour options at launch or further down the line.

Specification wise, the Rhyme is a good mid-tier device with a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor, 768MB of RAM, a five megapixel camera that also shoots HD video at 720p and an FM radio. There’s been no word yet on whether it will feature Beats technology, but there’s as good a chance as any in light of the recent unveiling of the Sensation XE.

As you can see on the 3.7-inch Super LCD WVGA resolution display the date displayed is, rather tellingly, Tuesday 20 September, so it’s pretty much a given that this phone will be announced at HTC’s New York event next week!

But if you’ve ever watched cooking shows, you know the feeling of unsatisfied salivation, and you probably end the program with an intense yearning for a meal not meant for you and a frustration in your soul that what you just witnessed is absolutely unattainable.

But you, the nodding neighbor or co-worker, aren’t the one whose genes are animating the little one, and you’d rather not sit through 3-D details of scrunched up baby face crying, spitting, drooling and vomiting.
And if the kid’s really little, it might just look like a little bald alien. Human babies are so strange. Or when they’re older, toddlers with chocolate smeared all over their faces, farting and giggling, may be calling out for attention, but you might not want to give it to them in 3-D.

6.    Teenage Wannabe Videos

Now that every hack with even half an ounce of talent can put themselves on YouTube, the possibilities for 3-D embarrassment are limitless.
Believe it or not, there are some young teenagers who have never known a world without mobile phones, computers or iPods, and most of those kids, who have always been told they’re special, are now better than their parents at putting themselves online in hopes of becoming the next Justin Bieber.

We don’t need to see the intimate details of someone’s organs squirming around in 3D. My stomach muscles are clenching up just thinking about it. I like to see my skin just where it’s supposed to be, thank you, that is, fully intact and covering my insides, not pulled back and revealing a network of easily penetrable vital organs.
I don’t go showing that stuff off to everybody.

10.     Horrible Sports Accidents
Filming your best friend take a gnarly spill off a railing is bad enough, but to make it 3D would be just cruel and horrifying.
Bloody, gory sports accidents look painful enough in 2D. We’d rather not see your brother’s head cracked open as his body slams against a concrete wall from whatever death-defying sport is all the rage these days.
Again, teenage boys might get some sick thrill from watching their comrades lose half their body weight in blood, but it’s just too gruesome to watch in 3D. Do you really want to make your mother throw up?
